The Tribe of Zebulun had a beautiful week 2 of Summer Day Camp! The focus this week was LOVE. We practiced love for one another at camp and talked about being more loving at home too. Love for one another came in the form of sharing, sacrificing, serving (making crafts) and prayer. It all came together for a very blessed and fun week!
Jesse and Mileigh showed love by sharing. They were spotted giving up some of their lunch to another camper that forgot her lunch. Other girls gave up what their desire to win games and sacrificed their position. When playing musical chairs 2 girls ended up in the same chair twice and both times one of the girls volunteered to be the one out of the game. Yeah, Lilyanne & Victoria.
The girls learned a skill this week and made square knot bracelets and key chain ornaments for Dad. Hope the Dads enjoy their ornaments! The girls were excited to serve you and honor you with their crafts.
Our love for the saints far away is on our minds every day and we long to serve them. We have prayed for the 2nd grade girls in other cities and written letters to them. The Tuesday webcast was a fun time of sharing songs and scriptures with the out of town saints. Each girl longs to meet all the girls we give shout outs to on Tuesday and Wednesday!
The sweetest love this week was love for God and answered prayers from God. The rain was an indicator that we should play indoors so we had Doll Day. Heartlee did not bring a doll and prayed for someone to bring one from home. Her Aunt happened to be coming by and brought a beautiful doll to her. It was a sweet kiss from God! We had the opportunity to pray for our Junior Counselor, Jacki, before she went on a job interview. She was hired on the spot. The best part is she will be working on Sunday and won’t miss camp. Yea, God! Our dear Junior Counselors have been working with the girls in their Characteristics of Christ workbook this week to make sure the campers understand the questions and take time to think about the Bible verses we have read. Our Monday field trip to Ashlawn was rained out, but God blessed us with another precious invite from Gwen on Thursday and beautiful weather as well. With amazing speed for 20 7 year old girls, 6 teenagers and 2 adults, we were at Ashlawn, with sunblock on, greetings and devo done and in the pool by 9:59 AM.
We loaded 20 seven year olds girls, 7 teenagers, 3 adults, car seats, water coolers and lunches into the vans with speed and grace. Arrival at Ashlawn was peaceful and lovely because we were greeted by Gwen and treated with a devo and prayer. Then every Junior Counselor helped the girls organize their belongings and managed the sun block spray assembly line. Everyone slipped into the pool. I was amazed to look at my watch and see the time was 9:59. God blessed this trip so much! Gwen gave us ice cream and popsicles for snack and shared all her pool toys. We had a wonderful and safe time at the pool. We felt so loved by Gwen and loved by God on Thursday!
These obedient girls who love God are so easy to lead! This week of loving on each other and our sweet friends out of town has been so fun. It was such an honor to make things for our Dads and to give up winning the game for peace with God and peace with others. We were so excited when God answered prayers. Ending our week with swimming, reading God’s word and visiting Gwen at Ashlawn was perfect. This has been an awesome week full of LOVE and we are all better for this sweet experience and closeness to little servants of the Most High God.
Thank you camp counselors!! Praise God for you sharing your days with our children while also teaching them beautiful lessons of how to honor God with their day and their lives! We pray blessings on you and your families!
