Wow! I can’t believe we are already on week four of day camp! These first few weeks of camp have been so blessed! It has been so sweet to see the tribe of Simeon grow in love for God and one another! Please keep all of us in your prayers as we continue to put on our battle armor everyday and further this Connection with God!!
Last week was especially blessed! Every morning we got to enjoy our focus up time in our room going over scriptures, the workbook, blessings, answered prayers, and prayer requests. We swam, wrote letters to Mr. Joseph Smith, played on the playground, foursquare, basketball, volleyball and more! Two highlights from this week were our field trip and a nature walk.
On Tuesday morning we all put on our swimsuits and hiked on the new bike path to the back of the church. On the way we saw lots of flowers, insects, a baby bird, and even some animal bones. Once we got to the back of the field we crept behind the tree line to the section of the little Harpeth river that flows behind the church. We all took off our shoes and got to play in the creek, skip rocks, play with shells, and watch the water gliders. It was a very fun time and when we were finished we got to run back to the church and jump in the pool to cool off before lunch!
Thursday was our field trip day! Many of the boys had eagerly changed into their swimsuits before I arrived because we were getting to go swim in a “big pool!” Once we had our focus up time and everyone was in their swimsuits we hopped in a church van and rode across the street to Mrs. Melanie’s pool! We spent the morning swimming, jumping, and sliding on the water slide into the pool until everyone was hungry. We had a short picnic lunch and then put on more sunscreen so we could jump in again! After much persuasion I even got in the water! When it was time to go Mrs. Melanie came out and we got to thank her and recite our scripture Ephesians 6:10-18 for her. After we had dried off a bit we hopped back in the van and rode down the street to Mrs. Beth’s house where we got to have a fun snack of reeses and cosmic brownies courtesy of Aaron! Yum! Once everyone was dried off and petted the dog we went down into the theater room and got to watch the “Avengers!” In the movie it was reinforced that good always defeats evil, and that we should be willing to lay down our live for others! Once the movie was finished we climbed back into the van and drove back to church! It was a Super blessed day!
We have so much fun with your boys everyday, thank you for sharing them with us over the summer! Please do not let up in prayer for all of the campers, jc’s and counselors!! We love you!!
