We are praising GOD for such a sweet and blessed first week of Remnant Day Camp 2014 in the tribe of Gad!! These third and fourth grade girls are so full of love for God and for each other….it is a total delight to be around them!! 🙂 Like Gwen charged us with at the Day Camp kickoff, I want to be more like these children…joyful, selfless, eager to please, quick to show love! It’s such a blessing to spend the day surrounded by these beautiful children…full of the fruits of God’s spirit!!
In four short days, we are all closer to God and looking for ways we can imitate more of the Characteristics of Christ! Our new Connection with God workbooks, filled with Scripture, have been a priceless tool to help us look inward during quiet time…challenging us to look deeper and pray more….always looking for answered prayers as a sign of a good connection to the One True God!! This is bearing much fruit because we already have a very long list of answered prayers just since the beginning of Day Camp!! This is such a praise to GOD and an encouragement to us all!! We have also been learning about different women in the Bible! This week, the girls were excited to read about the lives of Eve, Sarah, Hagar and Rebekah! They are so quick to find the lessons from these examples in God’s word!! We have been learning some new Scriptures as well…putting them into our hearts and, most importantly, putting them into practice!! Then, every day we get to come together for our all group devotional, where we sing and praise God and get to hear even more Scripture…reading from Genesis and listening to excerpts from Gwen!! We are so blessed!!
All of that is more than enough, but that is not all!!! We had the sweet blessing of greeting some dear friends who have traveled from around the country to join us AND the honor of making some precious new friends as well!! 🙂 All of these girls are such gifted encouragers and have taken the time each day to make sweet cards to encourage some Saints! We also had the honor of serving some very special Saints this week by making them dinner! (Baking pizzas and cookies is always fun!!) The girls also served the Church by cleaning the Temple and then served the younger girl tribes by ‘washing their feet’ (aka painting their nails). Too much fun!! Everyday we get to encourage each other as well…by looking for and recognizing the Characteristics in Christ that we see in each other. We want to be more like Christ every day! We are always counting our blessings and continually working to develop a stronger connection to our awesome GOD!! Add to all of this: some running and playing, laughing and loving, swimming and slip-n-sliding, praying and praising…and it makes for some very full and fun days!! There’s no other place we would rather be!!
