The Tribe of Benjamin had a very busy week! God blessed us with beautiful warm weather, just enough of a breeze, plenty of activities, and sweet quiet time to rest our bodies.
Here is a quick Recap of Week 5:
We got to lead the devo on Tuesday and they did a great job reciting scripture and then leading the “Focus Up” dance in front of the whole camp! Our Junior Counselors did a fabulous job of leading the whole thing.
Ms Beth told us that she was moved to tears watching them do the Scripture 2 Timothy 1:7 “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline”… If you have not seen the motions that go with this verse, please ask your boys to show you!
This week brought 2 special guests, first Mr. Chris Clark came and spoke with the boys about “Stranger Danger”, it was very informative and fun for the boys. When he left he complimented them on the good behavior that they exhibited! Way to go boys!
Then Mrs. Jan Voorhis came and did a class on “Communication”, Mrs. Jan is a speech therapist and we did video her class so please let me know if you want to see it! They did a great job listening and participating as well. The class is GREAT for parents to watch!
We had two field trips, one to Baskin & Robbins and one to River Park. Baskin & Robbins was so fun! Each boy got a scoop of ice cream and practiced ordering for themselves, looking the server in the eye and saying please and thank you! They did a great job and were so polite! Our special junior counselor Julian from Austria got to have his first Baskin & Robbins ice cream cone, that was fun!!!
Our second field trip to River Park was also a success! It was a perfect hot day and the creek was very cool! The boys had rubber ducky races, caught fish, splashed around and looked for frogs, dragonflies, fish and butterflies. We also had a picnic and played at the playground and basketball court. After we got back to church and had our snack we headed in for quiet time where they all (but 3) promptly fell fast asleep… including our junior counselors! It was a perfect summer activity for a hot July afternoon!
Overall, the boys have improved SO much with sitting still during the Devo and Quiet time, we have been working hard with them and they receive a star on our chart for good behavior during these times. Some of the boys are close to 10 stars which will give them a prize! Ask them to tell you about it!
Rhonna, Tiffani and I want to make sure that a special thank you goes to Ellen who has spent her vacation here at Summer Day Camp with our tribe, she did a fabulous job and is heading home this weekend – Thank you Ellen!!! We have also had Hope as a guest JC and Julian as well. Thankfully Julian will be here for the rest of day camp – he is such a help!
Well, hope the weekend is restful for all of you and we can’t wait to see the boys again on Monday! Love to all!
