Praise God for a blessed first week of Remnant Day Camp!!! It was such a delight to spend this week with your precious girls!!! God blessed us with perfect weather and a beautiful start to the best Remnant Summer Day Camp ever! 🙂 We had the honor of getting to hear from Gwen Shamblin every day this week. She gave us the sweet direction of how we can grow more and more in the Characteristics of Christ throughout this Summer. We are going to grow in love with God first and love for each other second. We will accomplish this by putting into practice Jesus’ words in Matthew 7:12, “So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you.” Gwen reminded us of how easy it is to do this when we slow down long enough to think about another person’s needs or desires rather than our own. Please continue to practice this in your home! We learned that as we obey, the love of GOD fills our hearts…so that we have a love for others! What a beautiful charge for us to DO and LIVE out!!!!!
We were blessed to make some new friends this week and learn more about friends we’ve had for a long time!!! Gwen has charged us to reach out and really get to know each other this Summer. We also were blessed with daily devotionals and praise and worship times with Michael Shamblin and David Martin!!! We also enjoyed our precious Junior Assistants leading us in “get to know you” games!!! In arts and crafts, we had a great time painting and making origami flowers. The girls enjoyed a time of gymnastics and an afternoon favorite included water play games, swimming, and playing on the slip and slide!!! The list of blessings continued with other fun activities such as writing cards to out-of-town friends, watching Weigh Down Basics Week One, a visit from Leiper’s Fork Veterinary Services and some collie puppies :), and we even got to play in the rain one afternoon! 🙂 In all these amazing, blessed activities, we recognized the Christ-like characteristics exemplified by these sweet girls! Already, these girls have grown in the kindness and love for GOD, CHRIST, and each other. They are beautiful examples of the child-like heart that God adores! 🙂
One of the greatest gifts of the week was receiving the characteristics of Christ workbook. Every day, we slowed down to thank and seek out God’s will for us individually and as a Tribe in our daily quiet time. We all were eager to dig in and use this amazing workbook! We are so incredibly thankful to God for all the Remnant Resource material we have received!!! We are breaking down I Corinthians 13 and really learning what it looks like to be patient, kind, not envious, not proud, not rude, etc. Please look over this beautiful workbook with your sweet girls and you will, no doubt, be strengthened and encouraged as well! 🙂
Parents – On Monday, please be sure to send back your daughter’s workbook so she can use it during quiet time, along with her clean purple towel, swim suit, and a good lunch, snack, and several beverages!!! 🙂
Also, if you as parents can please send us a family photo, we would love to use this as a tool to get to know and recognize each other’s families! 🙂
Finally, to the Parents – Thank you so much for the honor of working with your precious girls!!! They are such a joy and we are looking forward to the best Summer…learning and growing more in the characteristics of our Christ!!!
With gratefulness to our ALMIGHTY GOD and our LORD JESUS CHRIST!
